Cefalù is located in the North coast of Sicily and has strategic position to get to wonderful attractions like Eolie Islands, Palermo, Etna Volcano, Trapani and Egadi Islands. It is recommended to rent a car to easily reach the most beautiful locations
Cefalù Beach

It is the main beach in Cefalù and is rich of life during the period from June to September. There are places where rent beach umbrella and loungers and also some free spots. 

Eolie Islands

These islands are located in the north est side of Sicily island

The easiest way to reach the islands is to take a ferry from Milazzo (reachable from Cefalù by bus or train). Probably the most particular of this seven islands is Vulcano, because of its black beach and thermal sulphurous waters.

Palermo

 

The city of Palermo is a destination that cannot be missed. Either you like to see the arab-normand arts or if you desire to have special lunch/dinner you need to go there. From Cefalù the best way to reach Palermo is train (about 50 mins); there at central station you can buy a daily bus ticket to explore easily the city.

Do not miss the Cathedral, the Cappella Palatina (inside the Normand Palace, which also the headquarter of sicilian government) and the famous street market Vucciria.

Cefalù Cathedral

 

During the twelfth century king Ruggero II  has decided to build the Cathedral as a vote after he was saved from a sea tempest. Inside you can see the wonderful mosaics, expecially the Pantokrator, which is Jesus Christ. Pope Benedetto XVI chose this icon as official immage for the "Year of the Faith" in the 2013.

Just nearby the Cathedral you can visit also the beautiful cloister.

Etna Volcano

Etna Volcano

 

Located in the south est of Sicily Etna is known for is wonderful volcanic scenario which will impress you.It dominate Catania city and from there an amazing sea view can be taken. You can reach Catania by car (about 2 hours) and then go up to volcano by cable car or by jeep driven by a guide. 

Inside Catania you can visit the Cathedral and the Bellini Park or you can shop in Via Etnea.
